What is Freight Brokering?
A freight broker is someone who assists manufacturers with freight that is ready to ship by finding carriers who are qualified to haul their loads.
Responsibilities of a Freight Broker:
-Works with manufacturers, shippers, and other transportation customers in facilitating the movement of their freight.
-Arranges the transportation and tracking of a load being hauled by a freight carrier.
-Keeps the line of communication open with the customer and carrier in order to update the status of the load.
-Makes it easier for shippers to find quality carriers that are proven to be reliable in hauling a load, as well as verifying their authority and active insurance.
-Communicates with all parties involved in the shipment of a load, in addition to verifying pickup and delivery.
-Obtains proof of delivery and all necessary paperwork that is required to bill the customer and pay the carrier.
